After a successful first engagement with Attakkalari in 2016-2017 I returned to Bangalore in the beginning of September 2017 for another semester with the Diploma students. Teaching basic ballet, Cunningham based contemporary dance, Pedagogy and Arts Management I was involved in big parts of the Diploma program.

I also collaborated with Angelo Foley, a composer from Paris (France), on a performance called Exercises on Music for Dance. In a short working period we created three pieces together for the Diploma students. We experimented with the different ways music and dance can exist in the same space and how they work together. Does the music support the dance? Or does the dance support the music? Are they related? Or, inspired by the working methods of John Cage and Merce Cunningham, are they only related by structure points? What is the effect of the collaboration and how does one art form influence the other? Questions that we approached in very different ways in the three pieces we created for this evening.
